I love Hull and Hill. They are the RG gifts that keep on giving for Christmas. Both leap frogged to the Court of Appeal and then to positions of Judicial Council leadership based on their loyalty to the former and current Chief. Now we are all paying the price for this closed and insular leadership structure at the crystal place that RG created, Long Beach and CCMS. The incredible waste of billions. Enough should really be enough. Judges whether they are in CJA or in ACJ need to step up and respectfully urge that this system be democratized so we can move forward and end the mess created by those in the tower at 455 Golden Gate .

Thanks Brad Hill. Thanks to all in the crystal palace. Now we will not have any new courthouses to replace the old broken down ones that have no employees left in them anyway. Oh well. At least we will have a multi billion dollar fiasco in Long Beach. The sad thing is that while the taxpayers pay ” rent” on this JC/AOC “innovative “project the rest of the courts will go without. Without services to the public, without court reporters, without courtrooms where justice actually occurs. The Christmas present from the insiders at 455 Golden Gate Ave ?Themselves and a big lump of coal.

One senses an air of indignation from Mr. Jahr that the State Legislature isn’t keeping their word, and following the law. That indignation rings hollow, however in light of the following:
The Lockyer-Isenberg Trial Court Funding Act of 1997
(Ch. 850, Stats. of 1997) (AB 233)
SEC. 3. The Legislature declares its intent to do each of the following:
(l) Acknowledge the need for strong and independent local court financial management, including encouraging the adoption by the Judicial Council of a Trial Courts Bill of Financial Management Rights, to be approved no later than January 1, 1998. This bill of management rights shall minimize the rules and regulations in the area of financial affairs to those sufficient to guarantee efficiency, but shall give strong preference to the need for local flexibility in the management of court financial affairs.
455 Golden Gate Avenue has had 14 years to comply with this law, and for 14 years they have intentionally ignored it, and, instead, have thumbed their nose to the State Legislature. Having done so, they, including Mr. Jahr, have forfeited any right to now cry “foul.”
And, as usual, it will be the trial courts that will pay the price.
Serving themselves to the detriment of all Californians.
Long live the ACJ.
